Blinky, unlike regular metronomes, is a visual metronome application. Blinky does not use sounds (yet), but rather conveys the tempo by blinking (i.e. changing the color of the screen from black to white and vice-versa). This was due to the annoyance of regular metronome sounds interfering with the music being played. The loud beeps that regular metronomes output caused a distraction to all the musicians and thus mistakes were made.
